The fare system in the Moscow metro "in the face" will work before the end of the year

The contactless fares "Face Pay" will be launched at all stations of the metro until the end of 2021. This was reported by Interfax with reference to the deputy chief of the Moscow Metro Andrei Kichigin.

Kichigin specified that the system will work for turnstiles and at the box office. Now the Face Pay system is testing, and to date, test participants have been successfully passed through turnstiles through turnstiles by recognizing persons.

Recall that the Moscow Metro, together with Sberbank, began testing the fare system using cameras with the recognition of persons in September last year. “The pilot project for paying for the metro is launched using persons recognition technology. The system was implemented by the Moscow metro together with Sberbank and the Visionlabs developer company. At the first stage, the new fare payment scheme is available at the Sukharevskaya metro station for a limited circle of passengers,” said a representative of Sberbank.

In September 2020, a new video surveillance system earned at all stations of the metro. "In the near future, the system will actively develop in terms of passengers services. In particular, input of the Facepay system - with the help of it it will be possible to pay for the passage by the person’s scan. Now we are checking it together with our banking partners," depthrans said then.

Then it was noted that the video surveillance system will also be used to monitor the load of trains. Information about the number of people in wagons will enter city mobile applications so that other passengers can choose the most free cars.

It should be noted that in January and February of this year, data from cameras in the metro were used by law enforcement officers to identify the alleged protest shares.

Last week, it became known that the capital’s authorities intend to spend 932 million rubles on the purchase and installation of 316 multimedia screens with cameras equipped with the facial recognition function at 85 stations of the Moscow metro. The purchase materials indicate that the screens are designed to show advertising, and the cameras are needed to monitor passengers. The Moscow State Institution "Moscow Metropolitan" said that screens are also needed to inform passengers in emergency situations and notification of changes in the work of transport, and cameras, according to the representative of the subway "are not intended to recognize persons and search for specific people." However, the latter statement contradicts the documents that say that the cameras should have a resolution of FullHD, autofocus and support of intellectual modules, including modules for "detecting persons", counting people and recognizing their accumulation.

In terms of reference, it also says about the support of the "module for determining the behavior of objects." Among other things, he will have to record the “crossing of the line” (probably we are talking about restrictive lines on the platforms), “quick movement”, as well as “celebrations”.
