The Commission of the Federal Service for Supervision of Transport completed an investigation of the flooding of the Onega fishing vessel in the Barents Sea, which died 17 people, the department’s website says .
The ship died due to a combination of several circumstances, according to the commission. The trawler icing, this contributed to a decrease in stability. The commissions believe that the ship's captain made an unjustified risk when making a decision on sample tiers in difficult hydrometeorological conditions. Experts considered that the captain and his senior assistant poorly controlled the stability of the vessel and announced the alarm so that the crew could leave the ship.
