Signs warning about traffic cameras will be removed inside Moscow

In Moscow, all signs warning about the operation of fixing cameras will be removed, with the exception of those installed at the entrances to the city. The authorities believe that placing them on every street "does not make sense," writes Autonews.ru.

The signs that will be dismantled look like a black camera on a white background - there are about 2,000 such signs in the capital now. Most of them will be removed by September 2021. The need for dismantling is due to the fact that from March 2021, the existing plates must be replaced with the corresponding single road sign in accordance with GOST. It is this sign (6.22 "Photo-video fixation") that will be installed at all entrances to the city.

The TsODD explained to the publication that it makes no sense to leave physical signs with a warning about automatic fixing of violations - information about the cameras is in the navigators, and most drivers already remember their location. “Also, information about the addresses of the location of the cameras is on the single transport portal and the website of the TsODD,” said a representative of the organization.

In 2020, the traffic police found out that some cameras in the city became the main earner of penalties from drivers: for example, a photo fixer on Kashirskoye Highway near Borisov Ponds imposed 153,534 fines for 101,424 cars and brought more than 90 million rubles to the treasury. At the same time, experts note that with the current level of road markings and the operation of traffic lights, it is difficult not to get a fine from the camera.
