The Ministry of Justice sent a disciplinary complaint to the Moscow Chamber of Lawyers against lawyer Lyubov Sobol’s defense attorney, Vladimir Voronin. Kommersant was told about this by the department’s press service.
According to the newspaper, the Ministry of Justice made a statement after an appeal from lawyer Ilya Remeslo, who pointed out Voronin’s violation of lawyer’s ethics. According to Remeslo, the lawyer published on social networks the personal information of witnesses in the case at the rally on January 23.
“The protocol contained the full personal information and telephone number of the witness. After which a certain supporter of Navalny began calling the witness and trying to put pressure on him in order to determine what testimony he gave and what he did not give. Recordings of these conversations were posted on YouTube ,” Remeslo believes.
In another post by Voronin, the lawyer added, the lawyer insults a witness in a case of illegal entry into a home. Remeslo is sure that this was a “planned act of pressure on the witness.”
Voronin told Kommersant that he did not know about the submission, and the Bar Association had not yet received the document.
Earlier, based on Remeslo’s complaint against politician Alexei Navalny, a libel case was opened (Article 128.1 of the Criminal Code) against veteran Ignat Artemenko, who participated in an RT propaganda video for amendments to the Constitution.
Voronin defends Sobol in the case of violating sanitary rules at the rally on January 23. The oppositionist, like other defendants, is accused of inciting protesters to violate sanitary and epidemiological standards.
Sobol is also involved in the case of the family of FSB officer Konstantin Kudryavtsev, whom politician Alexei Navalny accused of participating in his poisoning.
The lawyer is accused of “grabbing [Kudryavtsev’s mother-in-law] by the left hand with her hand and pushing her away from the front door with her shoulder <...> illegally entered this apartment [No. 37] and, walking around the premises, left it.”
