Pronounced flock behavior before nesting is characteristic of many birds, but in starlingsmore than 700 thousand birds (about 30 thousand) can gather in such groups. A similar flock - in English, it is traditionally called Murmuration of Starlings, that is, “rustling or whisper of filter” (from a characteristic sound of wings) - when moving, it takes unusual outlines, the studyof which is being engaged in physics. The dominant hypothesis of the adaptive role of such behavior suggests that, going to such flocks, birds are trying to confuse predators.
