"We didn't delete it." Facebook responded to Roskomnadzor's demand to return blocked articles from Russian media

The social network Facebook stated that it did not delete messages from the accounts of a number of Russian publications, access to which had previously been required by Roskomnadzor to be restored. This was reported by Interfax, referring to a representative of Facebook.

“We have not removed any of the content types mentioned from our platform,” the company said.

On March 7, Roskomnadzor demanded that Facebook restore access to information that was published in February in the accounts of RBC, TASS and Vzglyad. It was about the detention in Voronezh of alleged supporters of the Ukrainian youth radical group "MKU". As RBC clarified, Facebook restricted access to messages based on the findings of the Ukrainian fact-checking platform StopFake.

Interfax clarified that Facebook does not remove content flagged as "false" by an independent fact-checking organization, but only downgrades it.

• State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, commenting on the blocking of Russian media messages on Facebook, announced the need for new laws aimed at "protecting digital sovereignty." According to Volodin, the deputies will propose bills "that would not allow this in relation to the Russian media."
