Facebook stated that it did not delete Russian media posts based on FSB releases.

Facebook said that it did not delete messages in official accounts of Russian media, the restoration of access to which Roskomnadzor had previously demanded. This was reported by Interfax with reference to the company itself.

"We have not removed any of the content types mentioned from our platform," a Facebook spokesperson said, without providing further details.

The day before, on March 7, it was reported that the social network blocked the posts of TASS and RBC about the detention of supporters of the Ukrainian youth radical group in Voronezh and marked the information in the posts as false. Both posts were written based on releases from the FSB and the Investigative Committee. TASS and RBC said they intended to seek clarification from Facebook and demanded an additional check.

At the same time, Roskomnadzor demanded that Facebook restore access to the posts of Russian media, including on the website of the online publication Vzglyad. The RKN considered the actions of the social network an "act of censorship" and stated that Facebook's actions "violate the key principles of the free flow of information, unhindered access to it." Roskomnadzor threatened the social network with a fine of up to 1 million rubles for "restricting the right of Russians to freely search for information." According to media reports, in both cases the information was blocked based on data from the Ukrainian fact-checking platform StopFake.
