The first FSB deputy director, appointed by Vladimir Putin, was connected immediately with several leaders of the criminal world, who were accused of dozens of murders and abductions
Last week, Russian media reported that Vladimir Putin appointed Sergey Korolev, First Deputy Director of the Federal Security Service (FSB). This information was later confirmed by the press secretary of the president Dmitry Peskov. Before Korolev received this high post, he headed the economic security service (SEB), and even earlier - the Office of his own security (USB) of the FSB. On this, the official version of the biography of Sergei Korolev, in fact, ends - he is one of the most closed leaders of the Russian special services.
“Important stories” talked with people who know the new deputy director of the FSB, and studied the materials of several high -profile criminal cases in which his name was mentioned. We managed to collect unknown details from the conflicting biography of Sergei Korolev - a man who was connected at once with several well -known leaders of the criminal world accused of custom -made murders and abductions of people. Even despite the fact that some details of the relationship between the Chekist and the leaders of organized criminal groups (organized crime groups) were published in the media, this did not affect the promotion of the queen on the official ladder. How did he succeed?
Sergey Korolev was born in 1962 in Bishkek. As the “important stories” told several acquaintances of the new FSB deputy director, Korolev from the military family - his late father was the commander of the military unit. In addition, the queen's father was friends with Viktor Zubkov and hunted with him
In the early 1990s, Viktor Zubkov worked as deputy Vladimir Putin in the Committee on External Relations of the St. Petersburg City Hall. After Putin became the president of Russia, the career of Zubkov went uphill. In 1999, he became the deputy minister of taxes and fees, in 2007-the chairman of the Russian government, and in 2008-the head of the Board of Directors of Gazprom. Zubkov will play an important role in the fate of Sergei Korolev.
Both the Koroleva’s former colleagues and the employees of other law enforcement agencies who intersected the new FSB deputy director, claim that, despite good ties, Korolev himself made his career because he is “very sensible operas” (in the law enforcement, this is one of the highest forms of praise). Before sitting in the chair of the first deputy director, he managed to work at the FSB by the head of the department, the head of the department, and the head of the department.
But no matter how the “sensible opera” was Korolev, critical periods occurred in his biographies when it seemed that he could lose not only his career - and then his acquaintance with friends of Vladimir Putin could be very useful. One of these crises happened in 2004.
In March 2004, operatives of the criminal investigation department of the Central Internal Affairs Directorate in St. Petersburg detained a native of the Irkutsk region Oleg Makovois. In his public biography, Macozo seemed to be a businessman, a public figure and politician - he even ran for deputies of the State Duma. And according to investigators, a mac -plate named Maclaud was one of the members of the “fraternal” criminal group. This group was founded in the city of Bratsk, the Irkutsk region, but over time its activities spread to other regions of Russia, including St. Petersburg. The leader of the “fraternal” organized crime group of the Russian media, including the state , was called the authoritative entrepreneur Vladimir Tyurin nicknamed Tyurik. The US authorities included Tyurin in the sanctions list as one of the leaders of the transnational criminal organization.
Oleg Makovo led the Prison security company in St. Petersburg, former special forces worked in it, who were involved in a series of high-profile custom-made murders. In 2009, Macozo was sentenced to 23 years in prison for the murder of the leader of the “Kazan” organized crime group Rustam Ravilov, the abduction of a person and extortion.
Sergei Korolev at that time worked in the Economic Security Service (SEB) of the FSB in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region. The Korolev’s tasks, among other things, included the fight against organized crime and the supervision of law enforcement agencies. Checking the circle of acquaintances of the makowosis, the investigators of the criminal investigation department of the Central Internal Affairs Directorate of St. Petersburg found out that the leader of the fraternal killers communicated tightly with Sergey Korolev. And the nature of these relations, according to operatives, was similar to mutually beneficial cooperation.
The colleagues of Sergey Korolev say in his defense that Oleg Makozo was supposedly a valuable source of information, and the relationship between the opera and the source is one of the most difficult, even philosophical, problems in the work of special services. To receive valuable information, you need to give something in return, and sometimes help the source. And where is the line that cannot be crossed so that your operational work is not interpreted as patronage to criminals?
In addition, as the interlocutors of “important stories” say, the “Makovoz’s case” was not just a loud investigation, but an episode of a large war for influence between the police and the FSB and, in particular, between Sergey Korolev and Vladislav Piotrovsky-at that time the head of the criminal police of the city, and later the head of the Central Internal Affairs Directorate for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region (the new newspaper reported about the same. In 2019.) In such wars, opponents deliberately exaggerate the facts or give them one -sided to discredit each other.
Be that as it may, because of the Makovoz case, Sergei Korolev, as Fontanka wrote , filed a report on the transition to the current reserve of the Federal Tax Service (Federal Tax Service). Its leader was then Anatoly Serdyukov-the son-in-law of Victor Zubkov, with whom the father of the queen once hunted. Serdyukov later headed the Ministry of Defense, and Korolev became his adviser. In his new post, he, in particular, oversaw GRU. But, as further events have shown, Korolev did not lose the connection with the criminal world of St. Petersburg.
In 2008, the Spanish police carried out a large -scale special operation of Troika, as a result of which the “leaders of the Russian mafia” were arrested, as local media called them. Among the arrested were the well-known authoritative entrepreneur Gennady Petrov, well-known in St. Petersburg.
In 2010, the Spanish authorities released Petrov on bail. And after some time, he is another suspect, Leonid Khristoforov, asked for their native St. Petersburg for health reasons, from where they did not return. Spain put them on the international wanted list. As a result, the case against the “leaders of the Russian mafia” ended, in fact, nothing. The Russian authorities submitted reports to the Spanish court that they had no complaints about the defendants in the case. And, as the materials of the investigation studied by “important stories” later showed, Russian law enforcement agencies had reasons not to help Spanish colleagues.
Judging by the wiretaps of telephone conversations, Gennady Petrov, an authoritative St. Petersburg entrepreneur talked with the highest senior officials of Russia. For example, with the then Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov, Minister of Defense Anatoly Serdyukov and many others. In his conversations, Petrov called Zubkov and Serdyukov simply Vitya and Tolik. On a short leg with a man whom the Spanish security forces considered one of the leaders of the Russian criminal world, there were the most senior security officials. Among them, a person nicknamed Bolty, or walking-foot, was especially stood out.
Judging by the "wiretaps" published in 2019, Boltai, Basy, worked for Anatoly Serdyukov and helped Petrov with him with the appointment of people he needed for key state posts. For example, Petrov actively discussed with his interlocutors the appointment of Alexander Bastrykin as chairman of the Investigative Committee (SK). In 2007, on the day when the Federation Council approved the candidacy of Bastrykin, Petrov phoned Leonid Khristoforov:
- appointed a person. Remember, I told you? So everything was appointed. Very high, - Petrov Khristoforov boasts.
-Oh, oh, good! - He was delighted with the appointment of Bastrykin Khristoforov, who, according to the Spanish authorities referring to the Russian law enforcement agencies, "was an object of a judicial investigation in connection with various murders and assassination assumptions."
On the same day, a man called Petrov, whom the persons involved in the case called Nikolayevich:
- I heard about Sasha, right? Everything was appointed, ”says“ Nikolaevich ”Petrov.
“Okay, Christmas trees,” Petrov rejoices.
Nikolai Aulov turned out to be “Nikolaevich”, at that time the head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Central Federal District (CFF). The operational materials from the Spanish criminal case, which are at the disposal of “important stories”, said that the same chatter-foot helped with the promotion of “Nikolaevich” in the service. In 2008, Nikolai Aulov became deputy director of the Federal Drug Control Service (FSKN).
So who was a mysterious and influential chatter-foot, which provided assistance to Petrov in the appointment of the right people to the highest state posts? The Insider suggested that this person was the first FSB deputy director Sergei Korolev. The Insider put forward such a version based on several evidence:
Chatting, like Korolev, worked as an adviser to Anatoly Serdyukov;
Chatting, like the queen, the name is Sergey;
Chatting, like Korolev, was related to the FSB: Petrov reminded his son not to forget to congratulate Boltya, on December 20-the day of employees of the security organs;
Chatting, like Korolev, was born on July 25.
“Important stories” managed to get additional evidence that the first deputy director of the FSB could be hidden behind the nickname Boltai, the nickname. In November 2007, Gennady Petrov called his son Anton:
“Yesterday I went to Bolty-Noga, there it was ... There was Minaev, shooter, sniper,” Petrov says to his son.
“This is a deputy it,” Anton Petrov replies.
- Ah, I didn't even know. I asked him: "General, or what?" He says: "No, sniper."
- Well, he has a lot of he decides. His right hand. They say that he doesn’t understand anything particularly in his work, but his right hand, ”says Petrov Jr..
In this conversation, Gennady Petrov, most likely, mixed up the name of the man, whom he met at Bolty-legs. Because, under the description of the sniper presented to him, few are suitable as Igor Medoev. Medoev really worked as deputy Sergei Korolev in the Ministry of Defense, and before that he served in the special forces (CSN) of the FSB of Russia, where he earned the glory of one of the best snipers of the country (and maybe the world, as some former colleagues believe). It is Medoev that is considered one of the creators of the forces of special operations (MTR) of Russia.

He did not talk with Gennady Petrov on the phone, but preferred to resolve issues at personal meetings. But once the Spanish law enforcement agencies nevertheless “sketched” his voice. In July 2007, judging by The Insider , Anton Petrov called his father, and then handed the pipe to Bolty-Noga so that Petrov Sr. could personally invite him to his birthday:
- Greetings, Sergey. And I have a big request to be on my birthday, 60 years old, you must be, ”Petrov Chati-Noga asks.
- I will be sure. As for the person ( judging by the context, Anatoly Serdyukov. - Approx. Ed. )-There is in question,-Bolty-Nag answers.
“Important stories” gave the list of this telephone conversation to two people familiar with Sergey Korolev, and both without hesitation confirmed that the voice of the First Deputy Director of the FSB on the film. According to our interlocutors, Korolev and Petrov continue to communicate so far, "what the whole Peter knows about."
In 2018, Austria extradited Aslan Gagieva to Russia, whom Russian law enforcement agencies accuse the creation of a criminal group and the organization of murders. According to the investigation, “the criminal organization created and led by Gagiev began its activities in 2004 and totaled more than 50 participants. As a result of criminal activity in the territory of Moscow, the Moscow Region and the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, 60 people were killed, including law enforcement officers, republican and urban levels, businessmen and other persons. ”
However, as the New Gazeta found out in 2018, the group of Aslan Gagiev was not a typical criminal community that the investigation tries to present it. The group members called themselves a “family” and “brothers” and believed that they were engaged in the restoration of justice where law enforcement agencies did not work (some members of the “family” even seriously believed that they were a classified FSB unit).
This was partly true: for example, the victims of the “family” were members of the gang, which in the mid-2000s was engaged in kidnapping of children in North Ossetia. The leader of this gang was the brother of the former Deputy Minister of the Interior of North Ossetia. Apparently, therefore, when the relatives of the abducted appealed to law enforcement agencies, this did not lead to anything. But when the Family took up the case, the gang members died, and the abductions stopped.
At the same time, not only the abductors of people, but also random passers -by died at the hands of the “brothers”; There were those who were killed due to financial showdowns; In addition, members of the Family actively destroyed each other when they feared betrayal.
Aslan Gagiev was very popular and respected in North and South Ossetia, where he was known as a big brother. He participated in the storming of the school captured by terrorists in Beslan in 2004 and fought along with the “brothers” against Georgia in 2008, and he was engaged in charity.
“I was taken from Russia by the head of the ninth service of the FSB. He gave me 10 thousand dollars and decided that this is the only thing he could help me "
During the extradition process in Austria, lawyers Aslan Gagiev and he himself insisted that he was in great danger in Russia because he was previously tortured by FSB operatives (an independent Austrian expert confirmed this, having studied Gagiev’s damage). Also, employees of Russian law enforcement agencies tortured with current and suffocation and detained members of the "family".
Gagiev’s lawyers tried to convince the Austrian court that their client in Russia was facing revenge from senior officials to whom he paid bribes. These indications were also confirmed by objective evidence. For example, Gagiev’s people bought apartments to relatives of the Deputy Minister of Industry of Russia and Deputy Alexander Bastrykin in the UK. In the testimony of Gagiev, the Austrian court has only one positive mention of the Russian civil servant. Big brother does not name his last name, but describes this person with gratitude and respect.
“I was taken from Russia by the head of the ninth service of the FSB. He said that he could not help me. He said: “There is a solution”. He gave me 10 thousand dollars and decided that this is the only thing he could help me, ”Gagiev said to the Austrian court (a copy of the protocol is at the disposal of“ important stories ”).
Under the “ninth service” of the FSB, Gagiev, most likely, had in mind the management of his own security, which was at that time headed by Sergey Korolev. Several sources confirmed to “important stories” that Korolev and Gagiev are well acquainted. Why could the FSB General help a big brother?
As the interlocutors of “important stories” say, Korolev allegedly owed something to Gagiev, who once helped him a lot in a critical situation. What was this situation, we do not know, but Gagiev often risked his life for the sake of saving other people. For example, once he voluntarily went to Chechen militants who abducted the girl as a guarantor of ransom. The militants released the hostage, and the big brother sat in the cesspool for 10 days until the relatives paid the ransom.
The leadership of the FSB knew about the acquaintance of Gagiev and the Queen. When the “Gagiev case” was actively discussed in the media, the queen was allegedly called to the carpet to the FSB director Alexander Bortnikov, the familiar queen recalls. “The other would somehow brate, invent something, and he [Korolev] told everything in direct text. I acted like a man, ”the interlocutor of“ important stories ”recalls proudly.
And in this lies the main mystery of the personality of Sergey Korolev. No matter what connections he was convicted, each time it came off the queen from his hands and, on the contrary, even strengthened his authority among colleagues. Working on this text, the reporter of “important stories” again after time asked his interlocutors the question: “How could the queen appoint a deputy director with so many friends among the leaders of the criminal world?” Both friends and former enemies of the new FSB deputy director answered about the same thing: “And who is not without sin? He [Korolev] at least ********* [by beast or betrayal] never engaged in. And the president appreciates such. "
In this sense, the President’s personnel policy is little like the principles practiced in the rule of law, and more resembles the personnel logic of the bosses of the criminal world, where fidelity is the main dignity of the candidate.
Sergei Korolev has not answered our questions yet.
