"Close your eyes"

Teachers and students of the Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg began a three -day protest against the exhibition in the walls of the exhibition Evgenia Vasilieva, convicted of fraud of the former head of the Department of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. They believe that Vasilyeva’s abstract paintings did not fit into the canonical interiors of the oldest art academy of the country. The author of the works is the wife of the ex-minister of defense of the Russian Federation Anatoly Serdyukov and a former employee of the military department Evgeny Vasiliev. In May 2015, she was sentenced to five years in prison for fraud with assets of the Ministry of Defense. Vasiliev was released on parole after three and a half months, including due to an unprecedented amount of 200 million rubles, which the ex-official paid for compensation for damage to the state.
