The Moscow City Court dropped the case against Yekaterina Khrapchenkova, a resident of the capital, who posted a video on TikTok and Facebook about the sale of masks allegedly received as humanitarian aid from China. This is reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the court.

The case was dismissed due to lack of corpus delicti. For Khrapchenkova recognized the right to rehabilitation.

In September 2020, the court appointed Khrapchenkova 120 hours of compulsory labor under the criminal article on the public dissemination of knowingly false information about circumstances that threaten the life and safety of citizens (Article 207.1 of the Criminal Code). According to investigators, the woman bought a pack of masks made in China at a grocery store and, going outside, recorded a video where she announced the masks as humanitarian aid, which is being sold for a fee. The investigation believed that Khrapchenkova wanted to increase her audience through deliberately false information: from May 9 to May 19, 2020, more than 687 thousand users watched the video.
