In Moscow, house arrest was extended for four defendants in the “sanitary case”

In Moscow, house arrest was extended until June 23 for four defendants in the “sanitary case”. This was reported by the Moscow City Duma deputy Mikhail Timonov.

The decision was made by the Basmanny District Court of Moscow, granting the petition of the investigation. The preventive measure in the form of house arrest was extended to the coordinator of Navalny's Moscow headquarters Oleg Stepanov, municipal deputy Dmitry Baranovsky, Alexei Navalny's press secretary Kira Yarmysh and Pussy Riot member Maria Alyokhina.

“Since the moment of arrest, the investigators have not carried out any actions with the suspects, except for getting acquainted with the changes in the investigation team and appointing a meaningless examination,” the message on the Navalny Team | Moscow" on VKontakte.

Kira Yarmysh changed the address of serving house arrest, lawyer Veronika Polyakova told MBKh Media. The owner of the apartment rented by Yarmysh terminated the lease agreement. The petition to change the house arrest address was not considered for two weeks.

“They changed the address to which we asked. My request was granted, I attached a new lease agreement, wrote a statement about why the previous one was terminated. But the conditions of serving all remained the same: no Internet, no walks, nothing. A small victory, but, unfortunately, it was still illegally extended until June 23, ”commented the lawyer.

Stepanov, Baranovsky, Yarmysh and Alyokhina are accused of “inciting to violate sanitary and epidemiological rules, which created a threat of mass disease of people” (part 1 of article 236 of the Criminal Code with the application of part 4 of article 33 of the Criminal Code). The investigation believes that the defendants in the case invited Muscovites to participate in a rally in support of Alexei Navalny on January 23 and thus created a threat of a massive COVID-19 disease.

The protesters were accused of using violence against security forces (Article 318 of the Criminal Code), violating sanitary and epidemiological rules (Part 1 of Article 236 of the Criminal Code), involving minors in illegal activities (Part 2 of Article 151.2 of the Criminal Code), blocking roads (Article 267 of the Criminal Code).
