In Crimea, pro-government holiday rallies were approved, but the actions of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation were banned

In Crimea, officials have coordinated the celebrations of the anniversary of the referendum and the Day of Reunification with Russia, which are celebrated on March 16 and 18, removing coronavirus restrictions for this. The protest actions of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation scheduled for the same dates were banned. This is reported by Open Media with reference to Vasily Parkhomenko, the first secretary of the Sevastopol City Party Committee.

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation noted that the rallies of the party were not coordinated in any of the regions. The actions will be held in the format of meetings with State Duma deputies, single pickets or motor rallies. Of all the uncoordinated events of the communists on February 23, only those in which not municipal or regional deputies participated, but members of the federal parliament, passed without incident, the party said.

Among the “permitted” events were: the laying of flowers and the opening of the photo exhibition “7 Wonders of the Crimean Spring” on March 16 in Simferopol, a motor rally with the participation of the Night Wolves bikers, as well as a review of the Yunarmiya detachments and cadet classes as part of the “Youth Army. We are the children of the Crimean Spring” on March 20, Open Media notes.

• On February 23, left-wing activists and the Communist Party planned to hold mass rallies dedicated to the day of the creation of the Red Army, but the authorities refused to coordinate them, citing the pandemic. Because of this, the party changed the format of actions in some regions: they took place in the form of laying flowers on the monument to Lenin or meetings of deputies with voters. The protesters were detained, the police opened administrative cases against them, for example, in Syzran , Novokuibyshevsk , Petrozavodsk , Krasnoyarsk and Ulan-Ude .
