A communist from the Rostov region was searched in connection with calls for extremism

On March 3, FSB officers in the Rostov region searched the home of Marxist Alexei Popov because of publications on VKontakte. about this Popov spoke on his page on the social network.

As Popov explained in a conversation with OVD-Info, he is in the status of a suspect in the case of incitement to extremist activities (part 2 of article 280 of the Criminal Code). During the search, all electronic data carriers were confiscated from him.

As it turned out, the criminal case was opened because of a proposal that Popov wrote on his blog: “If an imperialist war starts, we should take up arms against our own liberal government, and then transfer the flame of revolution to a country at war with Russia, or a bloc of countries,” cites the words of the communist public "Left Wing".

Popov also noted that the materials of his case state that he is suspected of "inciting hatred towards the social category of billionaires."

After the search, Popov was taken for interrogation, where he was asked if he had been creating an extremist community for a long time. The young man denies any involvement in such activities. After that, no further investigations took place.
