Bastrykin ordered an investigation into the interview the "Skopin maniac" gave to Ksenia Sobchak

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, has instructed the leadership of the Investigative Committee's department for the Ryazan region to organize an investigation into the interview given to Ksenia Sobchak by the "Skopin maniac" Viktor Mokhov .

As reported on the Investigative Committee website, after the interview was released, journalists and public figures drew attention to “the possible preparation of a new crime on the part of” Mokhov.

On March 22, Viktor Mokhov's interview with Ksenia Sobchak was released on YouTube. In it, among other things, he discussed the fates of his victims. In particular, Mokhov noted that Elena Samokhina, who gave birth to three children from him while in the basement, did not become a mother after her release. "She gave birth to my children and has not given birth again. I need to take care of her again," Mokhov said.

Alexander Bastrykin instructed investigators to study all statements made in the media and give them a proper legal assessment as part of the verification activities.

• Earlier, United Russia State Duma deputy Oksana Pushkina asked the Prosecutor General's Office and the Federal Penitentiary Service to check Mokhov's words that he was ready to "take on" one of his victims again. Another United Russia deputy Anton Gorelkin, in turn, asked the Ministry of Internal Affairs to check Mokhov's interview.
• After the release of the interview with the "Skopin maniac", the head of the Union of Journalists of Russia Vladimir Solovyov and the leader of the LDPR Vladimir Zhirinovsky proposed to legislatively prohibit people convicted under serious articles from giving interviews to the media.
