The court arrested the leader of a tourist group caught in a snowfall in the Khibiny Mountains

The court appointed an arrest for one month and 30 days for the head of a tourist group from St. Petersburg, which fell under a snow blockage in the Khibiny, as a result of which a girl born in 2008 died. This is reported by the regional department of the Investigative Committee.

Law enforcement officers detained the 48-year-old head of the tour group the day before.

The avalanche came down in a mountain range on the Kola Peninsula on March 22. Under the rubble of snow, a child died - a teenage girl. There were 18 people in the group of tourists, 13 of them were children aged 10 to 15 years. They were engaged in the tourist club "Skif" - a division of the house of children's creativity in the Primorsky district of St. Petersburg.

The Investigative Committee opened criminal cases on the provision of services that do not meet safety requirements (Article 238 of the Criminal Code) and negligence (Part 2 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code). The management of the Investigative Committee for St. Petersburg reported that the presence of the deceased girl "in the danger zone - the site of the collapse of the snow mass" and her death were the result of "non-fulfillment by officials, also from among the employees of DDT, of their duties."
