"Fascinated with her example"
A monologue of student Anastasia Zaykina, accused of "hooliganism" after a rally on January 23 Author: Nikita Kuchinsky Students took an active part in winter protests and were one of the first to encounter political repression: threats by expulsion, the pressure of the university leadership, administrative and even criminal cases. The state accuses students of enthusiasm for people to fight for rights and freedoms. Anastasia Ponykina from Izhevsk just became one of the students, against whom a criminal case was opened after the rally. According to investigators, during the protest of the protest on January 23, Ponykina “carried away with her example” participants in the action gathered on the central square on the roadway. Doxa publishes her story about the transformation of an administrative case into a criminal, first interrogation, searches and enthusiasm from January protests.
After graduation, I entered the Higher School of Economics in Nizhny Novgorod on fundamental and applied linguistics. Then this was a new direction and we were one of the first students who fell on him. I submitted documents there because I especially liked neurolinguistics. I had a wonderful student life, but then because of the pandemic I came to Izhevsk and became interested in politics, began to develop as a civil activist. Gradually, I was also carried away by management and transferred to the correspondence department of the Nizhny Novgorod State University named after N.I. Lobachevsky in the direction of "Economics" [but remained to live in Izhevsk - approx. editor].
At the beginning of last year in Udmurtia, I began to organize mass shares and participate in them. My first action was the overlap of the bridge in the flounder . There, the authorities built a paid bridge over the Kama River, for residents this is the only possible option to get from the flounder to Izhevsk by car. Other paths are either railway or sea. This is the maximum lawlessness, because people working in neighboring cities have to pay just for traveling and entering the flounder about 500 rubles. For many, such daily boards are colossal. Then I still did not know activists from left -wing organizations, I was familiar with only a few guys. They invited me to participate, and I thought "hmm, why not!" Later I found out that these young people were activists from the RSD.
Together with them, we arranged other actions, and then I myself had experience, and I organized mass pickets against the "death factory" in the Kambarka. Now the waste processing plant is re -profiled there so that it also processes especially dangerous waste of the first and second class. Even when there was an old factory in this place, people complained about a deterioration in health, teeth, and poor health of children. And now the pollution will increase and will affect not only the flounder, but also the neighboring cities.

I left with two comrades and did not have time to move away, as the police officers approached the civil uniforms from behind and detained us, and then took them to the police department and did not allow a lawyer for an hour and a half
In fact, others could deal with the organization of shares in Izhevsk, but this share fell to me. But I did not act alone, my comrades from the RSD always helped me, we held all the shares together. When we hold single pickets, many people, passing by, show fingers up, take pictures, clap. Passers -by with opposition views, but those who are afraid to express their opinion, see like -minded people who are not afraid, and this inspires them. It is very pleasant to convince them that in fact you should not be afraid. Sometimes activism helps to achieve small victories. At the end of last year, we spent pickets in defense of forest on the street 40 years of Victory in Izhevsk. There, the city administration gave the developers a risk ticket, and the forest gradually began to be destroyed. However, after our shares, they opened a criminal case that the administration’s decision was illegal, and the work was suspended.
At the rally on January 23, I was like a journalist and led a live broadcast for Rusnews. A lot of people gathered in the central square of Izhevsk. At the same time, the police did not interfere with the shares, I don’t even remember that they were saying something. They were just there. Then the activists of the RSD spontaneously stepped forward and led the protesters to the main street. From there, everyone reached the city administration, where representatives of each left movement shouted slogans and spoke speeches. Everyone had a crazy emotional upsurge, people supported political activists. Then everyone returned to the central square and gradually began to diverge. I left with two comrades and did not have time to move away, as the police officers approached in the civilian uniform and detained us, and then they took us to the police department and did not allow a lawyer for an hour and a half. We were left for the night and the next day they tried under article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses , according to which I was assigned 60 hours of compulsory work. Journalistic accreditation did not affect the decision of the judge.
After the action on January 23, my comrades and I witnessed the criminal case of road ceiling. For the first time I came for interrogation, my phone was seized. The lawyer and I filed a request that police officers could watch data from the device only in my presence. The most interesting thing is that the petition was approved, but this did not prevent the police from entering my Telegram and VKontakte accounts on the same evening and see all the information. And the approval of this petition came only after a week by mail in Russia. Apparently, they were given a green light for this matter. On March 10, I had to go through an administrative court, but at that time I was already in Nizhny Novgorod, so my lawyer went to the meeting. There he was awarded the decision that the administrative case was terminated in connection with the initiation of criminal.

In it, they indicated that in the status of the Russian socialist movement there is the phrase “dismantling of the Putin regime”, and in the status of Dmitry Morozov’s VKontakte it is written “I am making a revolution,” so they can be recognized as an extremist organization
The past criminal article, according to which I was a witness, changed to " hooliganism based on political enmity ." I am still in some shock. Initially, I was on emotions, but everyone supports me very much: parents, former classmates, classmates, just friends. I did not go to VKontakte for a very long time, and during this time there have accumulated a lot of messages with words of support and it is very valuable for me. I am insanely grateful to everyone who is next to me, who constantly writes to me. Thanks to this support, I hold on.
Now the activists of the RSD are also interviewed in the case of the creation of an extremist organization . As an employee of the EE center explained to me, the case is connected with our shares in defense of the forest on the street of 40 years of Victory in Izhevsk. The developers really did not like that we interfered with their work, and they wrote a statement to the prosecutor's office. In it, they indicated that in the status of the Russian socialist movement there is the phrase “dismantling of the Putin regime”, and in the status of Dmitry Morozov’s VKontakte it is written “I am making a revolution”, so they can be recognized as an extremist organization. However, the criminal case itself has not yet been opened, now only a pre -investigation check is underway.
Recently, I had searches in the Izhevsk office in the Izhevsk office in the criminal case of hooliganism. But if police officers decide to continue to promote the case of extremism, then the things seized can become evidence in this case. I can’t tell in detail, because I gave a non -disclosure subscription. Of course, searches are very exciting, but it was expected that they would pass.
A lot of people came to rallies across the country. At least we have in Izhevsk - for sure. It seems to me that this is great because many people saw that there are not only kitchen conversations about which Putin is bad. The people really go to the streets with large crowds, it also goes along the roadway of the main street! Of course, this inspired on January 31 and it would be no less than people if they had not distributed fake news about changing the gathering place. It was evident that the events of January 23 were very scared by police officers, because on the 31th, riot police and “astronauts” from other regions were brought to us. There was a moment that illustrates this well: when people reached the city administration and arranged a rally there, police officers stood along the door of the administration building so that none of the protesters went there. The power was very scared.
Honestly, I can’t say anything about the proceedings in court yet. This is a political matter, and political affairs can always accept the most unexpected turns. With activism, of course, I plan to do further. But so far I will not talk about it, because I think that time has not yet come.
The Russian socialist movement opened a fundraiser for his wallet to help student Anastasia Poonykina with a lawyer.
