YouTube will begin hiding the dislike counter in test mode

YouTube will begin testing several new interfaces that do not display the number of dislikes on other people's videos. A message about this appeared on the official Twitter of the social network.

YouTube's blog post states that this will be an experiment involving a small group of users. In which countries it will be held and how many users will participate in it is not specified.

They decided to conduct the experiment after feedback from video bloggers about how public dislike counters can influence their well-being and provoke coordinated campaigns in which one or another video is disliked en masse.

Users who take part in the experiment will be able to dislike videos as before. Social network algorithms will take them into account when selecting recommendations. In this case, users will not see the total number of dislikes for the video. Their counter will be available only to video creators.
