The Ministry of Health warned of a third wave of coronavirus in Russia. And Rospotrebnadzor said that it won’t exist

Incidence rates in Russia suggest that a third wave of coronavirus may be starting in the country. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Health Tatyana Semenova.

Unfortunately, the second wave of coronavirus infection also captured the beginning of 2021, and now, unfortunately, the incidence rates and the course of diseases allow us to talk about the third wave of coronavirus infection.

At the same time, Semenova expressed the opinion that “in the next month and a half” population immunity will be achieved in the country.

In Rospotrebnadzor, in turn, did not agree with the assessment of the Ministry of Health. The head of the preventive center of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, Vadim Pokrovsky, doubted the very possibility of starting a third wave due to the large number of those who had been ill and vaccinated.

To be honest, I don't expect a third wave at all. The immune layer is growing very quickly, both due to those who have been ill and due to vaccination, so it is not necessary to expect that there will be another very large rise.

Updated . The head of the Ministry of Health, Mikhail Murashko , said that the incidence of COVID-19 in Russia is now declining, so it is premature to talk about a third wave of the epidemic.

• In February, the number of daily recorded cases of coronavirus in Russia decreased by one and a half times - from 18,000 at the beginning of the month to 12,000 at the end. In March, the decline continued, but more slowly; in the last two weeks, about nine thousand new cases have been recorded every day.
• The third wave of coronavirus has been observed in most European countries since March. Because of this, the authorities of many of them have once again tightened anti-coronavirus restrictions.
