A defendant in the Hizb ut-Tahrir case from Tatarstan was placed in a punishment cell for 5 days

Employees of IK-26 in the Samara region placed Eduard Nizamov, a defendant in the Hizb ut-Tahrir case in Tatarstan, who was sentenced to 23 years in a maximum security colony in a terrorism case, in a punishment cell for 5 days. His mother reported this to OVD-Info.

According to his mother, Nizamov was transferred to the punishment cell at the end of March due to the fact that he was late for verification.

Nizamov spoke about the poor conditions in the isolation ward: the temperature there drops to 16 degrees. He has to drink raw industrial water, since electrical appliances are prohibited there and he cannot boil it.

An OVD-Info source familiar with the situation in the correctional colony said that the prosecutor’s office accepted a complaint from one of the prisoners about the quality of the water, carried out an inspection and agreed that it was unsatisfactory. The head of the colony received a prosecutor's request to correct the violations.
