A court in Dagestan has acquitted a detainee who reported being tortured at a police station. After the trial, the police blocked him in a car for a day — and then detained him again

In Makhachkala, former police officer Ibragim Gadzhiev was detained; his car was blocked by police officers near the building of the Kirov District Court on the evening of April 1.

On March 31, Gadzhiev was detained at his home in Makhachkala and taken away for questioning as a witness in the Ashikov brothers' case. As lawyer Sapiyat Magomedova told Chernovik , Gadzhiev was taken to the Kirov District Department of Internal Affairs, where he was tortured. According to her, traces of torture were recorded by ambulance doctors and representatives of the Public Monitoring Commission (PMC).

On the evening of April 1, Gadzhiev was taken to the Kirov District Court - an administrative protocol was drawn up against him for disobeying a police officer. The court found no violation in Gadzhiev's actions.

After the hearing, Gadzhiev got into his relative's car, but he was not allowed to drive away from the court, writes "Caucasian Knot". The car was blocked by law enforcement officers.

The police demanded that Gadzhiev go with them for a new interrogation, but he refused. As a result, the car stood in the police cordon on the square in front of the court for almost a day. On the afternoon of April 2, burlap was pulled around the car to hide what was happening.

By evening, Gadzhiev was taken away from the court. According to Chernovik, he was detained as a suspect in a criminal case , the details of which have not yet been specified.
