The Doctors' Alliance has threatened to hold a protest outside the Pokrov prison if a doctor is not allowed to see Navalny

The Alliance of Doctors trade union has threatened a protest by medical workers outside the walls of Colony No. 2 in Pokrov, where politician Alexei Navalny is being held, if the administration refuses to provide him with the necessary medical care. A corresponding video message has been posted on the YouTube channel Navalny LIVE.

“If a patient cannot get to a doctor, then the doctors themselves will come to him,” said Anastasia Vasilyeva, chairwoman of the Doctors’ Alliance, in a video.

The action is planned to be held if, by April 5 inclusive, “Navalny’s neurologist is not allowed to see him and the medications necessary for treatment are not given.”

• Navalny went on a hunger strike on March 31, demanding that a doctor be allowed into the colony to see him. The politician and his lawyers insist that he is not being given the necessary medical care in the colony — Navalny complains of pain in his back and leg.
• The Federal Penitentiary Service says Navalny is receiving all necessary assistance “in accordance with his current medical indications.”
