The first analysis for coronavirus, which was handed over by Alexei Navalny, showed a negative result. This was reported on Wednesday by his lawyer Olga Mikhailova. She clarified that the opposition politician passed two tests, but the results of the second are still unknown.
“He continues to experience the pain in his back, in his leg. Plus, he has sensitivity , in addition to his legs, his hands are now involved. As for his health state with temperature, the day before yesterday the temperature was 39, yesterday 38, today is about 37–37.2, but it hesitates,” Mikhailova told the rain to the rain television channel.
On April 5, Navalny was transferred to the medical and sanitary unit in the Pokrovskaya IK-2, since he complained to the high temperature and symptoms of a respiratory disease. On the eve of the Vladimir region, a protest of the supporters of Navalny and doctors from the "Alliance of Doctors", who demanded to allow the doctors from the will, took place. Several people were detained.
Earlier, Alexei Navalny reported through his lawyers that three of the fifteen people in his detachment were hospitalized with tuberculosis. At Navalny himself, prison doctors recorded a temperature of 38.1 and a strong cough. The politician continues the hunger strike demanding to provide the civilian doctor requested by him.
An indication of the chief IK-2: do not let anyone in, do not accept the application. They offer us to send the application by registered letter. Or maybe an owl? Or a postal pigeon? Pigeons, by the way, are bred in the city. Surely there are specially trained among them. No, but what pic.twitter.com/u7r9akw4ao

The situation around the state of health of Alexei Navalny again forced experts to talk about the situation with medicine in the Russian system of execution of sentences. In particular, about the incidence of tuberculosis , which remains a big problem for prisoners. Tuberculosis is in third place in mortality in the FSIN system after HIV and cardiovascular diseases.
The head of the research programs of the Public Verdict Foundation ASMIK Novikova told the Current Channel about the situation with the disease in Russian prisons:
Often there is only a paramedic in the colony
- In different colonies and in different regions, the situation with medicine and tuberculosis can be different. I had to take an expert interview with surgeons who operated on light tuberculous patients. These were specialists of very high qualifications. They are excellent surgeons exactly because many sick prisoners passed through them, and they know this disease. In the 90s in the colonies there was a terrible epidemic, the so-called polyuretic version of tuberculosis was distributed. This is when there is resistance to drugs, and not to one, but to all. That is, it was virtually impossible to treat the disease. I must say that then the prison department coped with this or another and the situation was under control. As for medical care as a whole-often there is only a paramedic in the colony and there is no operational protocol when the desired specialist appears in the colony. This, of course, is a very serious problem.
Asmik Novikova
-Is it known about the colony in Pokrov, where is Alexei Navalny now?
Only elementary actions are available: when a person has a temperature, they give him ibuprofen
- I have no information, as everything works in the colony, which contains Navalny. All the information that concerns the internal structure of the colonies is monopolized by the FSIN, and we can only be content with the fact that they from time to time show in their open data. But from what is now known, it is clear that there is no medical care as such. Only elementary paramedicine actions are available: when a person has a temperature, they give him something that, for example, Ibuprofen knocks down this temperature. If a person has a suspicion of an infectious disease, then he is isolated to some room or boxes to separate from other prisoners, ”said Asmik Novikova, head of the research programs of the Public Verdict Foundation.
Former member of the PMC Nizhny Novgorod region, expert of the committee against torture Sergey Shunin is sure that in the near future the situation with prison medicine in Russia will not change dramatically:
A doctor in a colony with all the allowances receives 10 thousand rubles
- One of the main problems that we have repeatedly recorded for many years is the lack of medical personnel in the FSIN institutions. First of all, this is due to low salaries. According to my information, a doctor in a colony with all the allowances receives about 10 thousand rubles about 10 thousand rubles. It is clear that with such a salary this problem will be eternal. Unfortunately, this problem is not solved in any way. I am sure that this is directly related to the qualifications of the FSIN doctors - during my membership in the public observation commission, from 2016 to 2019, one of the main topics of the appeals to us was just improper medical care. As for the situation with Alexei Navalny - in order for civilian doctors to be allowed to be allowed to be, the condemnation of the convict and the consent of the head of the colony should be. In my practice, in the PMC Nizhny Novgorod region there were cases when civilian doctors, neurosurgeons - were allowed in the colony and pre -trial detention center, there were no problems with this. But in the case of Navalny, I'm not sure of this.
- What's wrong with Russian prison medicine?
There were many complaints from the convicts, to whom patients with tuberculosis planted in chambers
- The main difficulties of prison medicine are not only the absence of doctors. There are difficulties with staging the FSIN systems sick in hospitals. This is a lack of convoy services, lack of transport, large lines. In addition, there are problems with the transfer to civilian hospitals even if there are indications. I have repeatedly met in my practice a situation when there is a medical recommendation that the prisoner must be directed to urgent surgical treatment, on cardiology, on joint problems, the medical card has the recommendation of the doctor of the FSIN, but this recommendation does not lead to anything. She is not performed. In addition, in my practice there were many complaints from the convicts, to which patients with tuberculosis planted in chambers. They suggested that this was done with the aim of pressure on them, so that non -ordering of medical care may well be a pressure mechanism for a prisoner. It is difficult for me to give an accurate assessment of the situation with Alexei Navalny - as a lawyer and former member of the PMC, I need to push off the facts. The first thing I would do, I would get acquainted with the medical card, would talk to the doctors. As I understand it, members of the PMC do not do this in the Vladimir region, and this is quite strange, ”said Sergey Shunin, an employee of the committee against torture.
Oleg Dubrovkin was serving an opinion in places of imprisonment for 24 years, and now he works in the Fund for Protection of the Rights of Prisoners. He knows about the problems of prison medicine firsthand, he constantly helps people in conclusion who cannot get medical assistance, achieve their rights. At the same time, his personal experience suggests that doctors in Russian correctional institutions, if desired, are able to help the patient:
I spent the last 15 years of conclusion in prison infirmaces
- During my conclusion, I acquired focal tuberculosis. Then there was the decay of the left lung, then the bilateral decay of the lungs, then the decay of the right lung. But today, nominably, healthy. For the last 15 years of conclusion, I mainly spent in prison infirmaces. I’m not saying that they are treated gorgeously, but the drugs there are everything that even cost a lot of money. Not every person can buy them in the wild, and there they give them for free. And from tuberculosis, and from diseases of the spine, and from anything - there are enough drugs there, various and ultra -abrasive. Not the fact that they are given to everyone.
Light patient with tuberculosis
- What is needed to get an appointment with a prison doctor?
According to the law once every six months, fluorography should be done in places of imprisonment
- Everything is arranged there. If you have a problem, you need to make an appointment with a doctor. You come to the doctor - therapist, a doctor for general diseases. She listens, looks, writes down complaints, makes any appointments. If this does not help, you need to come to your reception again. I am not saying that in all colonies there is a doctor’s work schedule, but in principle it is. Whether this is performed in the institution where Navalny is now, I do not know. I do not distinguish the prisoners, be it a bulk, be it Petrov, everyone is equal there. And looking at what he complains. If he complains that his stomach hurts, this is one. If he complains of symptoms that cannot be distinguished-either it is a covid, or it is pneumonia, or it is tuberculosis, or with the bronchi something, and the symptoms are the same-weakness, temperature, losing weight, changes in the lungs, then the diagnosis can only be made with fluorography. Under the law, mandatory fluorography should be made once every six months in places of conclusion. In order for you to understand that every state penal institution has a staffing table of employees who are there daily. There is a freelance schedule, and these are usually surgeons, dentists. They come in accordance with the agreement that penitentiary institutions have concluded with them - they take them half -time or at one fourth rate. Depending on the concluded agreement, the doctor comes and examines the concludes. This is a civilian doctor, he has nothing to do with the FSIN system.
See also "Power destroys a person." Bloggers about Navalny in a colony- And in what cases are paid civilian doctors allow in the FSIN institutions?
- In the event that the FSIN system admits that they cannot provide a person with the necessary medical care whether they have no medication or not such a specialist. There are such narrow -profile diseases that, for example, in the Republic of Mordovia there are no specialists of such a profile and the desired level. And if he is, then this is one doctor throughout the republic, and to him at large the turn of the patients. People are free for months in line to get to his appointment. And he simply will not go to the prisoner, because he has his own patients. In this case, the patient is offered to conduct an examination, which, in the case of Alexei Navalny, must be agreed with the Federal Penitentiary Service of the Vladimir Region, ”says Oleg Dubrovkin, a former prisoner, now employee of the Protection Protection of the Rights of Prisoners.
Former member of the Moscow PMS Evgeny Yenikeev considers it illegal to the refusal of the leadership of the colony in Pokrov to allow the inspection of Navalny as a civilian doctor who will come to the colony:
Any doctor can come to the place of forced detention of the FSIN at the request of the prisoner
- By law, any civilian doctor can come to the place of enforcement of the FSIN at the request of the prisoner. According to the testimony of local doctors, only export is made to a civil hospital, because for this you need an additional convoy, additional employees. And in a situation where a paid doctor comes to the institution at the expense of the prisoner and additional costs are not needed for this, according to the law, this should happen exclusively at the request of the prisoner. In the case of Alexei Navalny, a refusal to provide him with a civil doctor illegal. The motives of prison authorities can be talked endlessly. It is very difficult to understand that in the heads of these people, ”says human rights activist Evgeny Enikeev.
On February 2, the Simonovsky court of Moscow sent Alexei Navalny to the colony in the criminal case of Yves Rocher, in 2013, which the European Court of Human Rights recognized as unlawful. The opposition will have to be conducted in conclusion for about two and a half years.
After a month and a half, Navalny complained about back pain, problems with his legs and torture by insomnia. The FSIN said that the state of health of Navalny is "satisfactory."
