Businessmen, opposition, governors, mayors, ministers, former police officers - the most important and responsible was given to him. He seemed to be indispensable. And it is difficult to imagine the Basmanny court without Arthur Karpov, who planted people there continuously for 14 years.

And now - resigned. It's not about raising. “He quit,” the press service of the Basmanny court said concisely. It seems like just a retirement (he will be very good with all the lifelong judging benefits). It is unlikely that Arthur Karpov will go to lawyers. Otherwise, you will have to lose your lifelong content. Only another “Basmannaya” judge - Elena Labelkova went to lawyers. True, she was deprived of the authority for a disciplinary violation (she freed one prisoner instead of another. It happens).

Karpov has no violations. In terms of professional biography for the current judicial system, it is clean as a baby.

Always praying and pulling up. The processing is explained: he came to the judge from the military prosecutor's office. He sent citizens into custody with a characteristic of military cold determination. Without misfires.

We must pay tribute: Karpov did not humiliate citizens, as others, and - a rarity! - I listened carefully to the suspects and the accused. Usually, after all, judges do not take “contingent” in the cage for the dust, they cut their speech and never look into the eyes. Karpov looked. Calmly.

He refused the mother of Magnitsky, who died in the "sailor silence" in complaints against illegal posthumous persecution and inaction in the investigation of the circumstances of his death. He refused calmly, politely, unemotional. I got into the Magnitsky List.

His most famous decisions:

• The imprisonment of the organizer of the murder of the Novaya Gazeta observer Anna Politkovskaya - retired police lieutenant colonel Dmitry Pavlyuchenkov (2011);

• The arrests and extension of the arrests to the defendants of the "Swamp" (2012) and "Moscow" cases (2019). However, once Karpov sent the defendant under house arrest, in another case he completely released from custody;

• a change in the bulk of the preventive measure from the subscription of the defect of the “Iv Rocher” (2014);

• the arrest and extension of the arrests of the accused of the crash of the Falcon aircraft, the head of the Total company Christophe de Margeri in Vnukovo;
