In Novgorod, the head of the traffic police was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison. He received bribes with cognac and asphalt

The Novgorod District Court sentenced the head of the local traffic police department and Colonel Vladimir Lonsky to 7 years and 6 months in a strict regime colony. This was reported by the press service of the prosecutor's office of the region.

Lonsky was found guilty of taking a large bribe (clause “c” of part 5 of article 290 of the Criminal Code) and taking a bribe in the amount of less than 10 thousand rubles (part 1 of article 291.2 of the Criminal Code). He was also fined more than 1.5 million rubles for the first episode and 100,000 for the second. Lonsky was banned from holding leadership positions in government agencies for five years.

The court found that in February 2019, the head of the local traffic police department received a bribe from the general director of Stone Logistics LLC in the amount of 300 thousand rubles and a bottle of cognac for 4 thousand rubles. In return, Lonskoy promised to organize escort for the transportation of bulky cargo (transport lock) in the Novgorod region by a traffic police patrol car. In May of the same year, he received a bribe from the organization in the form of asphalt crumbs with a total volume of 21 cubic meters for the unhindered performance of road works by Technosfera LLC.
