President Vladimir Putin invited his plenipotentiary representative in the Siberian Federal District, Sergei Menyailo, to take the post of acting head of North Ossetia. This was reported on the Kremlin website.
The official agreed to accept the offer.
RBC's source in the presidential administration explained this decision by saying that Menyalo is “an experienced politician, is connected with the region and is not involved in conflicts between local clans.”
Putin's plenipotentiary was born in North Ossetia. In 2010, he was a candidate for the post of head of the region, but the president approved the candidacy of Taimuraz Mamsurov.
