The editor-in-chief of “Important Stories” Roman Anin was taken away for questioning at the Investigative Committee after a six-hour search

Updated . Anin's interrogation ended after one in the morning on April 10. During the interrogation, the journalist refused to testify in accordance with Article 51 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation. In a criminal case, he has the status of a witness.

FSB officers completed a search of the editor-in-chief of the publication “Important Stories” Roman Anin. The search lasted about six hours. At the end of it, as reported in the “Important Stories” telegram, the journalist was taken away for interrogation by the Investigative Committee.

Anin is being prosecuted under the article on violation of privacy committed using his official position (Part 2 of Article 137 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). It is unknown what his status is in the case. The journalist's lawyer Vasily Grischuk said that this status has not been determined. He also called the decision to bring Anin in for questioning to the Investigative Committee at night illegal.

The editor of “Important Stories” Roman Shleinov told Dozhd that the case against Anin was opened back in 2016 at the request of Olga Sechina, who at that time was the wife of the head of Rosneft Igor Sechin. The investigation into the case was suspended, and on March 24, 2021, as the publication reported , citing lawyer Anna Stavitskaya, the investigation was resumed.

“Important Stories” reported that, according to Anin himself, the search may be related to his investigation into the luxury yacht “Princess Olga”. The journalist's article said that the yacht may be connected with Igor Sechin.

The investigation was published in Novaya Gazeta on August 1, 2016. Subsequently, the newspaper, having lost the lawsuit filed by Sechin, published a refutation at his request, but Roman Anin’s text was not deleted.
