American rapper DMX has died

American rapper Earl Simmons, aka DMX, has died at the age of 50. This is reported by the publication People, citing the family of the deceased.

“We regret to announce that today our loved one, DMX, whose real name was Earl Simmons, passed away at the age of 50 at White Plains Hospital. At that moment, he was with his loved ones, for the last few days he was on life support,” the relatives said in a statement.

The musician's condition worsened on April 2. The rapper had a heart attack while at home. He was hospitalized in serious condition. According to the lawyer of the musician Murray Richman, the cause of the heart attack is unknown. The lawyer also did not confirm the information that appeared in the media about a possible drug overdose.

DMX's rapper career began in the early 90s. His first albums topped the music charts. The rapper was nominated several times for the Grammy Award and was the winner of the American Music Award.
