On April 6, the Leninsky District Court of Cheboksary fined civil activist Elena Blinova one thousand rubles for publishing symbols of the Artpodgotovka movement. This was reported by the publication “Idel.Realii”.
The woman was found guilty under the article on demonstrating the symbols of an organization recognized as extremist (Article 20.3 of the Administrative Code). The meeting took place without her participation. She informed the court in advance that she would not be able to participate in the hearing, as she was in Moscow for work. In court, she was told that the hearing would not be rescheduled because she had not provided travel documents.
Blinova learned that the trial was held precisely in the case of the Artpodgotovka symbols from the assistant judge, who told her that the trial would again be for the “tick.” The symbol of the Artpodgotovka movement, which is recognized as extremist, is a red tick or a “V” sign.
In 2019, Blinova was already fined a thousand rubles because of a photograph with a poster that had such a check mark. The ECHR registered Blinova's complaint in this case.
Elena Blinova learned about the new prosecution under this article when employees of the prosecutor’s office came to her home to hand over a summons summoning her to give an explanation. The activist refused to open the door, the unknown people knocked loudly on the metal door on the floor for some time and eventually pushed the paper with the summons into the gap between the floor door and the ceiling.
