In Izhevsk, after massive searches, two Jehovah's Witnesses were sent to pre-trial detention center

On April 14, searches were conducted at at least 12 addresses of Jehovah's Witnesses in Izhevsk. This was reported by the press service of Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia.

Security forces detained six men; they were charged with organizing the activities of an extremist organization (Part 1 of Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code). Believers Maxim Derendyaev and Alexander Kutin were sent to a pre-trial detention center. Another detainee, Sergei Ashikhmin, was not given a preventive measure; he was released due to his health condition.

As one of the supporters of the confession from Izhevsk, Pyotr Matsola, said, before the search began, while he was not at home, FSB officers and other law enforcement officers entered the premises. Security forces discovered Matsola had literature included in the list of extremist materials, but Jehovah's Witness stated that the book did not belong to him. Electronic devices, bank cards, postcards and personal records were also seized from Matsola.

April 24 19:41 “Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia” transmit additional information about the raid against their co-religionists: a believer from Izhevsk, Sergei Ashikhmanov, was chosen as a preventive measure in the form of a ban on certain actions, namely, a ban on communicating with 13 witnesses in a criminal case.

• In April 2021, security forces conducted massive searches in several regions of Russia at once: in the Kemerovo region , Khakassia , Yaroslavl region , Adygea , Krasnodar region and Tula region .
• In January, the first case of persecution of Jehovah's Witnesses in Udmurtia became known : security forces detained a married couple. Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia do not specify the names of the detainees, but one of them was taken into custody and imprisoned in pre-trial detention center-1 in Izhevsk.
• On April 20, 2017, the Supreme Court recognized the “Administrative Center of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Russia” as an extremist organization, liquidated it and banned its activities in Russia. Later, all organizations of Jehovah's Witnesses were added to the list of prohibited ones. After this, a stream of criminal cases against representatives of the confession began.
