The phrase on the cover has a strict Russian analogue, “hybrid creatures”. In the novel, this is noticeable, although not so, thank God, annoying, as happens in other poets who switched to prose.

Caroline lives in the north of England, in Newcastle. There, apparently, her characters Nora and Art live. However, their city is not today environmentally advanced Newcastle. The sky is covered with purple smog, a long stay from the outside causes serious harm to health, the dead dissected, and get organs that are still suitable for transplantation to patients. There are no more fauna, Flora breathes in the incense. However, the biotechnical company "Iston-Grow" tries to populate forests with birds, frogs, proteins grown in a test tube, but they look like fake and behave strangely.

The company and the hole with art settled in a house with air purifiers and a garden plot. As soon as the British sovereign, having torn, transferred (sold) its functions to private firms, “Iston-Grow” announced the road program of Health Care for a rich aristocracy and business elites, and then the cheaper program, which the characters of “components” were also signed. Arts of Art, Americans, scattered fertilizers through the Wisconsin Niva for pennies and died from constant contact with poisons in the soil, but the art himself became a fiction writer, the author of the militants, who buy a flight and forget, leaving the airport. And the insurance employee of the hole, thanks to the mother-artist: TU eats lung cancer, there were paintings appreciated by collectors.

The relations of Nora and Arta are not married, partnerships, “Eston-Grow” spared them based on the analysis of their genes. They just met, but they already live together, rubbing each other, struggling with awkwardness. An awkwardness will increase when a beast is brought to the house, according to the description, most like a raccoon (Harder, however, claims to be inspired by his own cat).

There is a well -known book with which the creatures have a dialogue, even a direct conflict, but referring to it means to ruin the pleasure of the most likely reader.

For now, suppose: the connection between Art and Nora, that is, is embodied in the NAT, something appealing to care, nourishment, anxiety about the future (“Eston-Grow” forbids them to have children).

Unfortunately, both egocentric, each in his own way. Thanks to the talent of Keroline Harder, Norin Egocentrism is closer to us. The narrative is being conducted on her face, little by little we merge with her, imbued with her everyday hitch, idiosyncrazia, weaknesses, logic. We are ready to understand her, empathize with her, justify her. Up to the final.

The action of the novel takes a year; The final chapter covers the following fifty years of the life of a hole, and as a real horror hugs you as they realize.
