The President of the Russian Football Union was elected to the UEFA Executive Committee

The head of the Russian Football Union (RFU) Alexander Dyukov was elected to the Executive Committee of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA). The election took place during the UEFA Congress, which takes place in the Swiss Montrea.

For the chairman of the board of Gazprom Neft, 50 delegates of the Congress of 55 voted.

In addition to Dyukov, eight more people claimed to be included in the Executive Committee: Belgian Mehdi Bayat, Pole Zbignnev Bonek, Englishman David Gill, Italian Gabriele Gravina, German Rainer Koch, Swede Carl-Eric Nielsson, Netherlander Just Spe, Sust Servmja. Of the applicants, only the Bayat was not included in the executive committee.

Earlier, the members of the UEFA Executive Committee from the RFU were Vyacheslav Koloskov (1994-2009) and Sergey Fursenko (2011-2014).

As TASS notes, Dyukov was elected to the UEFA Executive Committee with the right to vote. Prior to this, the Executive Committee from Russia included the General Director of the Euro-2020 Organizing Committee in St. Petersburg Alexei Sorokin, but he did not have the right to vote, since he got to the body as a member of the Council of the International Football Federation (FIFA).

Alexander Dyukov heads the RFU from February 2019, from 2008 to 2017 he was the president of St. Petersburg Zenit.
