Explosion, fire and collapse of a 3-storey building in the Nizhny Novgorod region: there are victims among children, two gas workers were detained (video)

On Tuesday night, April 20, in a three -story residential building on Novoselov Street in the village of Margusha in the Dalnekonstannovsky district of the Nizhny Novgorod region, a strong explosion thundered.

As a result, there was a partial collapse of four apartments on the second and third floors, a fire broke out, the area of ​​which reached 1200 square meters. The structures of the building collapsed. In total, the house has 27 apartments in which 31 people live. Employees of the Ministry of Emergencies who arrived at the scene localized a fire at 23:50 in Moscow. At 1:05 Tuesday, open burning was eliminated. The salvation of the victims from under the rubble began.

According to the Ministry of Emergencies of the Russian Federation, in total, as a result of the explosion, fire and collapse of the building, eight people were injured - four adults and four children. A baby was found under the rubble - a girl at the age of 2.5 months was removed alive from under the rubble. Another child, a boy born in 2021, died, his body was found by rescuers under the wreckage of the house. At the moment, three adults and two injured children remain in hospitals.

The regional SUSK opened a criminal case on the provision of services that do not meet security requirements (Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). In the case of gas explosion in the residential apartment building, two employees of the operational gas service were detained who performed work in the house on the day of the explosion. According to preliminary data, the cause of the explosion was the gas leak. "The issue of choosing a preventive measure for detainees is being decided," the TFR said.

At the moment, the analysis of the rubble continues, about 100 people work there. These are employees of the specialized fire and rescue unit and employees of the Volga Search Rescue Detachment. The work is carried out in compliance with all safety requirements.

The authorities of the Nizhny Novgorod region promised to pay the victims of compensation from 10 to 100 thousand rubles.

"For residents of the first entrance of the house, accompanied by rescuers and police officers, access to the surviving apartments will be organized. Residents will be able to pick up documents, money, as well as essential things. For residents of the second (destroyed) entrance, residents access will only be removed after the threat of the collapse of the structures will be removed," the Russian Ministry of Emergencies in the Nizhny Novgorod region will be removed.
