The church explained the frescoes with demons and smartphones in the monastery in the Tver region with the spread of the vice of Internet addiction

The frescoes with the devils that hold in their hands smartphones and laptops that appeared in the Nikolaev Monastery, reflect the spirit of the time in which Internet addiction spreads wider.

Unusual frescoes with demons with laptops and smartphones in the paws appeared on the western wall of the temple of the male monastery, where images of mortal sins are placed. Sinners burn next to them in fire, their hands are constrained by chains.

As stated by RIA "Nov. spokesman for the Tver diocese, Archpriest Alexander Dushenkov. This wall painting was performed by the Romanian icon painter Ruslan Gebbe in 2018. “To express mortal sins in the stories that are relevant to the spirit of the times is an ordinary tradition. Let's say in Greece, this is a commonplace in temples, and no questions arise, this is not something new ... Usually this is at the discretion of the abbot, Dean. The abbot of the monastery is a very educated, very modern person,” said Dushenkov.

He emphasized that any dependence is sin. "On the Internet itself, in the smartphones themselves, nothing bad, say, is there. This is a tool. But if it becomes a dependence - this is a very bad thing. The Internet addiction is very close to drug addiction, to sin of drunkenness. A person actually turns off his health and loved ones. It is no coincidence that people usually worry and rock up, that they devote a lot of time to the Internet. - says Archpriest.
