Even our notorious GKChP lasted longer than the monstrous brainchild of Florentino Perez and Andrea Anelli. The president and vice-president of the so-called European Super Leagues spent a little more than a day in their posts. As it seemed to them, on Monday morning there was a new football empire in their hands, and by night they had already become bankrupt. And the answer “well, not shm” will not pass here - I’m afraid that they will recall an attempt to do with worthless means until the end of their lives. And the dozen clubs - the participants of the adventure of the deed, too, will not get away with the hands of it, although largely thanks to the healthy forces inside these clubs the conspiracy was waiting for the end of a quick and sad end.
The idea of revolutionary reformatting of European club football was largely kept on the clubs "Big Six" of the English Premier League-
They were exactly half of the composition of the founders. And they were the first to leave the ship that had not even left the harbor. The rebellious Chelsea fans did not let the bus with their beloved team to the stadium, threatening to disrupt a home match. The mildest of the slogans were “to hell with Perez! To hell with a super -League! ” The owner of Chelsea Roman Abramovich quickly realized that the matter was bad and it was time to immediately announce the exit from the project - only this reassured the crowd of fans.
The situation was already well penetrated - during the day, only the lazy did not speak out against the creation of an elite international league, which put the national championships, and fans, and football players. On Friday, at an emergency meeting, the UEFA Executive Committee could remove from the run of three of the four participants in the Champions League semi -finals - Chelsea, Manchester City and Real Madrid, which would be the beginning of a large war, not to mention the fact that the clubs would suffer completely specifically: both financially and reputation. It is not surprising that the English semi -finalists were the first to sharply hit the brakes.
Even earlier, the head coach of Liverpool Jurgen Klopp expressed his opinion very sharply and bitterly. It followed that they did not even try to consult with him about the dubious venture, not to mention the players. The coup can be arranged without the participation of the masses, the revolution - never. It turned out that the “conspirators”, having signed a memorandum of participation and did not warn anyone, offended their clubs. Here, former football players, and the actors, and the coaches, including the head coach of Manchester City, Pepa Guardiola, the coach-patriarch of Sir Alex Ferguson, the ex-coach of Arsenal Arsen Wenger, were easier to name those who did not speak essentially.
As a result, by night, the organizers of the Super Leagues realized that they were left alone with the memorandum of intentions, and by the morning they would not have a single participant left. So, in fact, it happened: officially the first to refuse to close the Manchester City embrasure, followed by Chelsea, and went away. Naturally, the very tough reaction of UEFA influenced such a massive retreat-up to the complete exception of both clubs and players from any competition under his auspices, and no less tough measures in relation to their clubs by Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and the total, almost unanimous reaction of authoritative specialists and coachs and, of course, suppressing part of the fans. I wish the world in a single impulse could say "no!" other, much more serious threats to humanity, but what we have.
The authors of the Woe project, by the way, very much counted on the joint support of the football community, but it, to the deepest disappointment of Perez and Angelli, supported the existing order.
On Wednesday, there is nothing left to make nothing left of the grandiose idea from the grandiose idea.
If there was a healthy rod in it and it would have a different degree of elaboration, maybe something is good and it would have happened. And so only bewilderment remains.
There is enough conversations for a long time. The calls to punish all those who, for the sake of their own benefits, were ready to steal all European, and partially world football economy, but there is no great sense in them. From the very beginning, the project looked wild, but it is better to turn the gaze to what gave rise to the bad initiative of the powerful of this world. It was an attempt-even if it can be called it cynical, incompetent, selfish, but whatever you like to solve problems that have not disappeared. The football world is saved from the adventure, but the state of the “patient” was no better.
By the way, some of our Russian figures and simply participants in the process have already tried to calculate what would bring to Russian football the implementation of a crazy project. And they found benefits in it, because, in fact, he reserved an existing club rating and it was possible to start with the same amazers and amateurs from scratch.
It didn't work out!
