German gymnasts dressed, protesting against sexual violence

The Germany’s women's team was able to attract attention at the European Sports gymnastics championship in Basel, but not thanks to the results shown. The Germans decided to go to the platform not in the usual swimsuits in which gymnasts have been playing for the past 50 years, but in closed overalls.

In their opinion, closed costumes will make performances more comfortable and will interfere with violence by coaches, making the athletes less sexy.

“When I was a little girl, I felt absolutely normal in tight gymnastic swimsuits,” the Sport -Express cites the explanation of the German gymnast Sarah Sarah. “But when I became a teenager and I started menstruation, I was getting less comfortable. Now I think that it is possible to feel good on the platform, but at the same time remain beautiful - why not?”

The OSS itself, which took only fifth place in the all -around, emphasizes that she herself never encountered sexual aggression. She put on the overalls, including in the support of the athletes who went through violence from the coaches.
