The Moscow City Court limited the activities of the FBK* and the FZPG* on the suit of the prosecutor's office on the recognition of their extremist

The Moscow City Court on Tuesday, April 27, at the request of the prosecutor's office limited the work of the "Corruption Foundation"* (FBK*) and the "Fund for Protection of the Rights of Citizens"* (FZPG*) as part of the lawsuit to recognize the organization of extremist.

"The judge of the Moscow City Court considered the plaintiff’s request for preliminary protection measures. On April 27, the judge of the Moscow City Court decide on the application of preliminary protection measures in the form of a ban on certain actions in relation to non -profit organizations of the FBK*, FZPG*," the press service of the court said.

The day before, a similar measure was adopted by the prosecutor's office in relation to the activities of Navalny’s headquarters , which are public organizations. But in relation to an NPO, only the court has the right to suspend activities, which has made the corresponding decision today. Within the framework of preliminary interim measures, before the end of the consideration of the case of recognition by extremist organizations, it is forbidden to “post materials” on the Internet, interact with the media, organize rallies and other public events, use any banking services, as well as participate in elections and referenda.

The director of the FBK* Ivan Zhdanov told MBH Media that the fund will not be made in connection with this decision. "This is not a suspension of activity, this is a ban on certain actions. We (prohibitions) carefully looked at them from the petition. They are even formulated illiterately. We do not plan to take these prohibitions in our activities somehow," he said. The defense of the fund intends to appeal the “ban on certain actions” as part of the claim for recognition of an extremist organization.

Otherwise, Navalny’s headquarters received, whose activities were also suspended. From yesterday, the headquarters of Navalny throughout Russia stopped working in their former format and froze their pages in social networks. "We can no longer work in the previous format. It is unsafe for our employees and our supporters," the Navalny headquarters in Moscow said in the Telegram channel .

On the pages in VKontakte, Twitter, Instagram and other social networks no more information will appear. “In the near future we will change the name and as depersonalized as possible,” Navalny’s headquarters warned. On April 16, the Moscow prosecutor’s office filed a lawsuit to recognize the “Corruption Foundation”*, Navalny’s headquarters, as well as the organization “Citizens' Rights Protection”*. According to the prosecutor’s office, “these organizations are engaged in the formation of conditions for destabilizing the social and socio-political situation,” in connection with which they should be recognized as extremist. The prosecutor's office claims that under the guise of these NPOs, foreign and international organizations work in Russia, whose activities are recognized in the Russian Federation undesirable. “Under the guise of liberal slogans, these organizations are engaged in the formation of conditions for destabilizing the social and socio -political situation. The practical goals of their activities are to create conditions for changing the basics of the constitutional system, including using the“ Color Revolution ”script,” the prosecutor's office said, published on the department’s website .

The status of extremist organizations will make the work of these NPOs in Russia impossible, all symbols will be prohibited, and when mentioning such organizations, the media will have to emphasize that they are prohibited. In this case, criminal liability will be threatened not only by the organizers of the NPO, but also to ordinary participants and donors. Extremists, by the Law on Countering extremist activities, are prohibited from holding meetings, rallies and participating in the elections. Getting into the list of the Ministry of Justice actually stops any banking operations. That is, any activity associated with Navalny will be excluded from the legal political field.

The label "extremist" carries several important consequences for the organization and its members. The organizers of the “extremist association” can face up to 10 years in prison under Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code (“Organization of the activities of an extremist organization”). Under the same article, criminal liability threatens those who participate in the work of such organizations - from two to six years in prison. This risk exists, including for ordinary employees of the FBK*, for volunteers and for sympathetic.

According to the prosecutor’s office, they have “comprehensive evidence that the named structures are conducting extremist activities, destabilizing the socio-political situation in the country, including calls for violent actions, extremist activities, riots, by attempts to involve minors in illegal activities.”
