In Moscow, the publisher of Islamic literature Aslambek Ezhaev was arrested in the case of financing terrorism

The Presnensky District Court of Moscow arrested the 58-year-old head of the publishing house of Islamic literature, Aslambek Ezhaev, in the case of financing terrorism (Part 4 of Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code). He told the Caucasian Knot about this.

Yesterday morning, Ezhaev’s apartment was searched. “The investigation believes that money was transferred to his card, which he gave to unknown persons. In fact, all this money was payment from wholesale buyers for books,” the lawyer said.

The anonymous telegram channel “Oper leaked”, without indicating the source of information, claims that the FSB accuses him of “since December 2012 <...> organizing the collection of funds through the Sberbank Online application, and thus transferred [to the participants of the Islamic State "] over 34 million rubles."

Previously, courts recognized several books published by the Ummah as extremist, including last year one of the volumes of a Russian translation of an interpretation of the Koran. The prosecutor's office noted in court that he was found during searches in a prayer house near Samara in 2016 in the case of a “Salafi cell.”
