Romanian film “#Asshole” received the Grand Prix at the Moscow Film Festival

The Grand Prix of the 43rd Moscow International Film Festival was awarded to the Romanian film "#Asshole", directed by Andrei Khutsulyak. This was reported on the page of the festival in VKontakte.

Khutsulyak personally received the award, TASS notes . “It seems to me that a small piece of the award should go to all the filmmakers represented in this year’s program: we have come a long way and managed,” the director said.

His film tells the story of the first high-profile case of online bullying. In 2005, the owner refused to clean up after her dog who went to the bathroom on the Seoul subway. This was caught on camera and led to a massive online scandal.

The Russian director Alexei Fedorchenko received the award for the best director's work for the film "The Last Dear Bulgaria". The prize for the best female role was given to actress Andrey Gramoshtyan for her role in #Asshole, for the best male role - to Soheil Ghannadan, who played in the Iranian film "Son" directed by Noushin Meraji.

The 43rd Moscow International Film Festival was held from 22 to 29 April. For the first time the MIFF was held in 1935, director Sergei Eisenstein was its president. The chronology of the festival began to count from 1959, when it became a regular event.
