Supporters of COVID-dissident Cheldiyev have had their detention in pre-trial detention center extended

The Rostov Regional Court extended the preventive measure for supporters of COVID-dissident Vadim Cheldiev, who is accused of organizing a rally in Vladikavkaz on April 20, 2020. This is reported by "Caucasian Knot".

Ramis Chirkinov and Arsen Besolov were left in the pre-trial detention center until July 14.

• After the people's gathering, the Investigative Committee opened criminal cases on the use of violence against police officers and the National Guard (part 1 of article 318 of the Criminal Code) and on hooliganism (part 2 of article 213 of the Criminal Code). The day after the rally, opera singer Vadim Cheldiev was arrested for two months for urging people to come to the gathering. He was also prosecuted under the article on the public dissemination of knowingly false information about the coronavirus (Article 207.1 of the Criminal Code) and public calls for extremist activities (Article 280 of the Criminal Code).
