The Leningrad Regional Court abolished the verdict of the court of first instance, which actually freed Rusinov Ilya Rusinov from the punishment of the former municipal deputy from St. Petersburg by boat with people, and sentenced him to four years in prison. This was reported by TASS.
"The court agreed with the arguments of the prosecutor and canceled the verdict of first instance. The guilty person was sentenced to four years in prison with a general regime in a penal colony," said a representative of the supervisory authority.
In December 2020, the Priozersky City Court changed the qualifications of the case to Article 118 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Causing grievous bodily harm with negligence") and sentenced Rusinov to correctional work for nine months, but the convict was credited with the term of detention and was released from punishment in connection with his departure.
The court of first instance also dismissed the civil lawsuit of a woman who suffered during the shooting and decided to recover from Rusinov in her favor only the expenses for a representative in court and procedural costs in the amount of more than 185 thousand rubles. After that, the verdict filed a complaint with the regional court. The sentence of the first instance Rusinov was canceled.
