Former editor-in-chief of the telegram channel NEXTA and editor of the Belarus Brain channel Roman Protasevich said that President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko had stripped his father, Dmitry Protasevich, of his military rank.

According to a document published on the official legal Internet portal of the Republic of Belarus, reserve lieutenant colonel Protasevich Dmitry Ivanovich was deprived of military and special ranks by a presidential decree of May 4.

As Roman Protasevich emphasizes, his father served in the military for 29 years and retired in 2019. “He did not take an active part in the protests, he was never detained, he was never involved,” the young man says.

According to Protasevich, he took his parents to Poland eight months ago, “after they were followed.”

in November 2020 Protasevich himself was charged with organizing mass riots (Article 293 of the Criminal Code) and organizing group actions that grossly violate public order (Article 342 of the Criminal Code). In addition, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus demanded that Poland extradite Roman Protasevich.
