The defendant in the “palace case,” Valery Evsin, was found in pre-trial detention center No. 3 in the city of Kizel, Perm Territory. This was reported by the project “Prisoners 212” with reference to Evsin’s wife.
Earlier it became known that Evsin was being transported to an unknown direction. The prisoner is accused of violence against a National Guard member (Part 1 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code) at the rally on January 23 in support of Alexei Navalny. On April 7, he was sentenced to two years in prison.
Evsin is defended by OVD-Info lawyers Maxim Pashkov and Elena Sheremetyeva. They appealed Evsin’s sentence, but he was transferred pending consideration of the appeal.
The Memorial human rights center recognized Evsin as a political prisoner.
