He was traveling on a personal car from St. Petersburg to Severodvinsk to take part in the online conference of the Stop Shiies coalition. Its participants planned to discuss the upcoming elections to the State Duma of Russia. Two hours after the detention, Mandrykin was released. This was the correspondent of the Sever. - Initially, we planned a full -time congress in Kotlas. But some secret forces made our meeting there impossible. All the owners of the places that we could rent apparently warned that we could not contact us. It is good that thanks to modern technologies, we can hold this congress online.
On May 7, the inauguration of the new mayor, Svetlana Deineko, is planned in Kotlas. Different officials were supposed to come to the ceremony, including the regional governor Alexander Tsybulsky. According to Sekushin, the security forces might not know that Mandrykin changed his plans and was no longer in Kotlas. The ex-candidate for the governors of the Komi Republic Oleg Mikhailov was also going to take part in the congress of activists.
- I think there was a kind of high command to scare any "shelupon", like us, so that activists do not spoil the official event with their presence. I believe that Mikhailov and Mandrykin have a lot in common, they pose a real threat to the current government, they are trying to eliminate them from the political field with all their might, ”Sepushin suggested.
Almost immediately after the detention, activists from Velsk came to the police station to support Oleg Mandrykin. The Coalition of Stop Shiies stated in social networks that the reason for the detention could be the fear of the authorities of political competitors.
