The State Duma approved in the first reading fines for failure to mention the status of terrorist organizations in journalistic materials

State Duma deputies adopted in the first reading a bill on fines of up to 50 thousand rubles for failure to mention the status of terrorist organizations in journalistic materials. This is stated on the website of the Lower House.

The Code of Administrative Offenses now already includes - also up to 50 thousand rubles - for failure to mention the status of organizations that have been recognized as extremist or performing the functions of a foreign agent. In April, it was also added to the list for failure to mention the status of the media - “foreign agent”.

The bill was introduced in January by United Russia members Alexander Khinshtein and Sergei Boyarsky.

Currently, 33 organizations are included in the register maintained by the FSB. In addition to the Islamic State, there are also the Ukrainian Right Sector, the Japanese and all of these organizations were recognized as terrorist, and their activities in Russia were prohibited.
