The court sent the Kazan man who attacked the school to pre-trial detention center

The Sovetsky District Court of Kazan arrested for two months 19-year-old Ilnaz Galyaviev, who yesterday opened fire on students and employees of school No. 175. This was reported by a Mediazona correspondent from the courtroom.

The investigator said at the meeting that, according to preliminary data, Galyaviev, having entered the school in the morning, detonated an improvised explosive device near the primary school classroom, from which no one was injured, and then fired a gun 17 times, killing nine people.

The Investigative Committee is investigating the case under the article on the murder of more than two people, among whom were children (points “a”, “c” of part 2 of article 105 of the Criminal Code); it carries penalties of up to life imprisonment.

The department also reported before the meeting that doctors last year discovered Galyaviev had a brain disease. After the suppression meeting, the prosecutor said that Galyaviev would soon be sent for a forensic psychiatric examination.
