In the Israeli settlement of Givat Zeev near Jerusalem, a podium collapsed during prayer in a synagogue, writes The Times of Israel.
The collapse killed at least two people, police said. 54 people were hospitalized. Five of them are in critical condition, doctors said.
Updated . The number of victims increased to 158 people.
Suleiman Massoud, a journalist for the Israeli TV channel Kan, published a video showing how the upper section of the synagogue's podium falls along with the people on it.
A total of 650 people were inside the synagogue at the time of the collapse, police said . They came to the celebration of Shavuot - the Jewish holiday of the giving of the Torah on Mount Sinai.
The city hall of Givt Zeev said that the synagogue was unfinished.
