At a preliminary hearing, the Tverskoy District Court of Moscow refused to dismiss the defense's request to dismiss the criminal case against Moscow State University student Said-Mukhamad Dzhumaev, who, according to investigators, entered into a confrontation with riot police officers during a rally on January 23 in support of Navalny. The Caucasian Knot reports this.

The defense asked to dismiss the case and impose a court fine on Dzhumaev. The young man is accused of using violence against security forces (Part 1 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code). The investigation claims that he punched and kicked an equipped riot policeman on Pushkin Square during a winter rally in support of Navalny. Dzhumaev admitted his guilt, and the case is already being considered in a special manner.

According to the version that Dzhumaev’s relatives voiced to State Duma deputy from Chechnya Adam Delimkhanov, Said-Mukhamad acted in a state of passion: he received a blow to the head and after that began to fight with riot police.

Currently, Dzhumaev is in a pre-trial detention center. His aunt posted a photo of the young man outside the trial.
