Google showed a prototype of video communication system with the effect of presence (video)

At the conference for the developers of Google I/O, the company demonstrated a prototype of the video system, which creates the effect of the presence of the interlocutor.

According to The Verge , a system, which received the code name Project Starline, uses several cameras and sensors located at different angles that create a 3D model of a person. This model in real time is displayed on the big screen in front of the interlocutor.

In the demonstration video, the system was used for video communication between two interlocutors. At the same time, the participants were in special rooms, and a 65-inch display was installed in front of them. The use of 3D modeling technology and the same design of the rooms created the participants in the conversation of the stay in the same room.

So far, the Project Starline system is in the early stage and includes many specialized equipment. The prototypes of the system are installed in several Google offices, but in the future the company expects to expand the testing of the system by attracting interested partners. In particular, Google believes that the system may interest companies from media spheres and medical institutions.

Recall that during the presentation at the opening of the Google I/O conference, the company also introduced the mobile OC Android 12 , which received a radically updated design and a number of new functions. The beta version of Android 12 is already available for installation, and the official release is scheduled for autumn.
