The man accused of poisoning 30 people in the center of Moscow was sentenced to 16 years in prison

The Basmanny District Court of Moscow sentenced Murat Sabanov, accused of poisoning 30 people with drinks in the center of Moscow, to 16 years in a maximum security colony. Mediazona was informed about this by the press service of the court.

The prosecutor demanded that Sabanov be sentenced to 17 years in prison.

The investigation established that the man met drunken passers-by, “gained their trust” and treated them to drinks with medications. When people lost consciousness, Sabanov robbed them.

The man was charged with 25 counts, 10 counts, five counts and four counts. He was found guilty on all counts.

The court partially satisfied eight claims from victims and decided to recover “about 1,854,000 rubles” from Sabanov, the court’s press service added.

The defendant partially admitted guilt. He said he had no job and robbed townspeople “to survive.”
