Shestun’s term of detention in a punishment cell was extended for “violation of the viewing angle” for the guards

The ex-head of the Serpukhov district of the Moscow region, Alexander Shestun, was extended the period of detention in ShIZO IK-6 in the Tver region for seven days. This was told to Novaya Gazeta by the chairman of the public committee "Freedom to Shestun" Vlada Rusina

According to her, the extension of Shestun's stay in the ShIZO was explained by the fact that "the viewing angle was violated" in the cell for guards - allegedly because he was close to the peephole, his head interfered with the colony staff. “At the same time, there is a video camera on the other wall of the cell. Shestun comes up to her five times a day for photographing as “prone to escape,” Rusina said.

Shestun himself, according to her, considers the media coverage of problems in IK-6 to be the reason for extending his stay in the ShIZO.

In May, Shestun notified the disciplinary commission of the Tver colony that a hunger strike had begun after he had been sent to a punishment cell. As stated in the statement, he was sent to the punishment cell "for, allegedly, absenteeism for breakfast, which refutes the recording of the inspector's video recorder." In mid-May, Shestun was registered as prone to escape.

The Podolsk city court on December 25 last year sentenced the ex-head of the Serpukhov district of the Moscow region to 15 years in a strict regime colony. Shestun was arrested in July 2018. He was accused of major fraud (Article 159 of the Criminal Code), money laundering (Part 4 of Article 174.1 of the Criminal Code), illegal business activities (Article 289 of the Criminal Code) and taking a bribe (Article 290 of the Criminal Code). Shestun himself did not admit his guilt and stated that he considered his case to be fabricated.
